EBH honours GEZE with special award for sustainability

GEZE is receiving the sustainability award from Euro Baubeschlag Handel AG (EBH) for the myGEZE Control building automation solution. Suppliers have been able to apply for the award with their products and services since 2022. In addition to the CO2 reduction factor, an independent jury primarily assesses the practicality of a sustainability solution and its suitability for everyday use. The EBH Sustainability Award is presented as part of the "Iron Gustav" award, the prize for the best supplier of the year.

Doors and windows play a key role in the sustainability and quality of a building, especially when they can be intelligently coordinated and controlled, as they can with myGEZE Control. The award from EBH AG shows that we can make an important contribution to these factors with our products.

Practical approach convinces the jury

In its statement, the jury pointed out that myGEZE Control is a sustainability solution that addresses three important aspects of a building by automating doors, windows and fire protection. The jury members were particularly impressed by the networking platform's suitability for everyday use. Part of the reason it is so sustainable is that GEZE has opted for the open BACnet standard for networking doors and windows, rather than introducing yet another proprietary system. This enables a wide range of interoperable applications with other subsections, such as blinds, weather stations, heating, ventilation or room automation, which can be controlled with building management systems such as myGEZE Visu. With a total of 74 out of 90 achievable points, GEZE had the highest score of all participants in the overall evaluation.

Save up to 30 per cent of energy

If heating, lighting, air conditioning, cooling, shade control and door and window technology are networked and automatically controlled, a building's energy consumption can be significantly reduced: Sensors such as temperature sensors, air quality indicators, brightness sensors, movement detectors or weather stations react in a more energy-efficient manner than people do. Thanks to intelligent building automation, the energy requirements of an office building can be reduced by up to 30 per cent. Solutions such as myGEZE Control are therefore a key factor in reducing the building sector's overall contribution to CO2 emissions. Currently, emissions from this sector still account for around 30 per cent of total emissions in Germany.

More than 100 companies from the hardware trade have joined forces in EBH AG. Every year, the members decide on the prize for the best suppliers, the Iron Gustav. The prize for sustainability was added to the awards programme in 2022. An independent jury evaluates the applications received.
